I'm Kate Charter, a freelance animator and art director based in Edinburgh. I specialise in both traditional and digital story-based 2D animation and in motion graphics for large-scale projection events. My mission is to create animation with warmth and personality that audiences connect to emotionally, and to convey information and tell beautiful stories in effective and imaginative ways.

I'm a 2012 graduate of the Edinburgh College of Art with a first class degree in Animation. I continued my studies with Masters in Motion Graphics, graduating with distinction from Edinburgh Napier University in 2019. Since then I've been producing work as a freelancer and contractor for clients including the BBC, Sky Kids, the NHS and Historic Environment Scotland.

Apart from my commercial work, I've won a BAFTA New Talent award, directed a short film through the BFI Ideas Tap funding sceme and had short films screened at over 30 international film festivals.
